Assignment 2: Formal Devices Analysis

 Gehry used different methods to draw the observers eye to specific parts of the house.



The model shows how Gehry made the facades much more interesting by making strategic cuts into the corrugated iron. He also allowed the observer from the street to view into certain parts of the property.




Through the use of glass on the rear facade, Gehry is able to draw the backyard into the house.




By creating obscurely shaped windows Gehry draws attention to specific rooms (master bedroom, kitchen, dining room). This model not only shows a 1:20 scale model of hte kitchen skylight/window, but also shows what sort of views can be gained from looking out of the window and how much natural light is let into the room.
